Vision Boards to the Rescue!

This is a vision board! (Feel free to click on the image to get a closer look.) So you might be thinking, what is so important about creating a vision board and why should I have one? I’m so glad you asked. 🙂 Vision boards are tools you can use to help you:

focus on the future you would like to have
visualize one particular goal you’d like to achieve
celebrate a special moment in your life
materialize your yearly intentions
reinforce your personal affirmations

The possibilities are truly endless. So let me answer your questions for a better understanding.

What is so important about creating one?

Well, it is important because you are important. Let me explain. As human beings we tend to get busy, a lot. Our lives are filled with appointments, family, friends, activities, careers, sports, and so forth. Who has time to “remember” to focus on what’s really important? Having a vision board solves this issue immediately. It can be a personally crafted reminder hanging on your wall at home or in the office, strategically placed so you will see it everyday and remember the future you are trying to create. A wonderful token display of where you want to go, who you want to be and what you want to have. The more you are able to tell the universe what you would like to manifest, the more it works to help you achieve it.

Why should I have one?

Simply put, you can’t afford NOT to have one. Your dreams and aspirations are too important not to be made a priority in your life. Having a vision board will not only help you focus on what is important to you, but it would also help you remember what is important for your soul. There is a part of us, I call our spiritual being, that craves to fulfill its purpose on this earth. You know it’s there because you’ve felt it. Use this tool to help you meditate and manifest the very essence of what makes you happy. And brining joy into your life is all that matters, isn’t it? 🙂 In a world that is moving faster than a speeding bullet, having an opportunity to slow down and ask for what you want is crucial.

Love or Lust?

Are you in love or lust? How can you tell? Does it even matter? Aren’t they the same?

Well, no they are definitely not the same and yes, it does matter. In order to be honest and upfront in any relationship, understanding the differences between love and lust can keep everyone honest and happy.

The biggest difference between love and lust is that lust is short-term fun while love is a long-term commitment. Simply knowing this can help you evaluate your situation immediately. However, this is not to say that lust cannot turn into love or that a loving relationship could not have lust within it. I’m sure both scenarios occur quite frequently.

Here are some of the difference between love and lust:

Lust

You are completely focused on her physical appearance
You only want to have sex with her
Conversations get in the way
You fantasize all the time about having sex with her
You would never be in a long term relationship with her
You love the concept of friends with benefits
You don’t hang around after sex or leave in the morning while making an excuse
You only call her for a booty call
You are too busy to hang out unless it’s to have sex

Love

You focus on all her qualities not just her body
You love spending time talking about anything and everything
You lose track of time when conversing
You fantasize about spending the rest of your life together
You would only want a long term and meaningful relationship with her
You want a monogamous relationship
You love to cuddle and watch her sleep
You tell her she can call anytime of the day because you love to hear her voice
You can wait to have sex because she asked you to
You become a better person because of her

Note: For anyone in the lesbian community that is reading this blog, I understand that there can be a blurred line when it comes to some of these differences. Due to the closeness most women feel when they get together, too often many lesbians misinterpret lust as love in the beginning of their dating courtship because of their strong desire to have a partner. Having sex with someone does not mean nor make a commitment ladies so be careful.

I also caution you to take your time getting to know someone before using the “love” word. You can love a lot of things “about” someone but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you love them. Falling in love comes over time while getting to know the very essence of someone. Yes, there are exceptions to this rule but for the majority of us, I encourage you not to “hitch up the U-haul on the second date”. Explore the reasons you are attached to the person in question and ask yourself if the reasons are valid or are you just compromising yourself to be with someone. Take your time. 🙂

Love is a very delicate thing. It requires time, nurture, compromise, loyalty, honesty, commitment, communication, teamwork, trust and faithfulness. If you’re not willing to do what is required to be in love, be honest with your sex partner so they can make a decision for themselves whether to stay with you or not.

So which is it for you? Love or lust? Wishing you all the luck in either pursuit. Just be responsible whatever you choose.

Happiness is waiting for YOU!

Happiness is a choice. Plain and simple. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you want to be happy or want to create happiness in your life, the first and foremost understanding you must have is that you deserve to be happy. Without believing this, the battle is futile. Remember your Greatness!

Knowing and accepting that happiness is your birth right, changes the way you see the life before you. Now, the mission becomes how to acquire that which is so amazing and liberating. So the next step becomes understanding what happiness looks like to you.

Everyone’s definition or activity that manifests happiness can be very different. So find a peaceful space, look inside yourself and remember the times when you smiled and laughed a lot. The times when your heart was light and full of laughter.

Go back and reminisce about the people and pets who showed you unconditional love and compassion. And don’t forget the friends who stood by you in the tough times but also helped you get into innocent trouble every once in a while. It could also be as simple as remembering the quiet time you spent by yourself on the couch with a good book and your favorite chocolate.

Can you imagine a world where you never stop smiling? Incredible, isn’t it? That world is waiting for you to come and play. Admission is always free and you need only bring your joyful spirit.

Now that you have come to understand that happiness is a part of your life and that you know what it feels like for you, the time has come to experience it everyday of your life. If you are waiting on permission, it is hereby granted. However, the only person who’s authority you require to start living a life filled with happiness and contentment, is yourself.

Go forth on your amazing journey. May it always bring you peace of heart and love to all those around you.

You are destined for Greatness!

Greatness is not reserved for a select few. But most of the time, it is but a few who believe they are great and live their lives accordingly. So what happened to the rest of the human race? Has mediocrity become acceptable? Is it too much work to live up to the expectations of our Creator or Source?

I believe most people just don’t realize that there is more to life than working at a job, loving their family and friends, finding the love of their life and taking vacations. (This is not meant to be belittling, merely a personal observation.)

Was this part of our design structure? I don’t know. But what I do know is that we were also designed to transform and transcend into something more than what we started as. Case in point, once a person gets that first taste of something outside the norm that makes their heart skip a beat, they are hooked. They want more. Then they realize that they are capable of more. Then they see how others are affected by their transformation. Eventually, being more than (greatness), they step in completely and are transcended.

We are such a multi-faceted race that it only requires a spark to ignite the rest of our creativity and curiosity. So knowing this, we should expose ourselves to the unknown and the things we do not understand. For only out of discovery, do we allow the specialness inside us to grow and flourish.

My challenge to you is to find experiences and activities that you hesitate to do and try them. Explore the caverns of mystery that surround you and become the person you were destined to be…a person of Greatness who ascends to greater heights because you know that there no limits to who you can become.

Love is an extension of who you are!

If love is the most powerful force on Earth, why is it so elusive? Or is it? Why is it so hard to find? Or are we looking in the wrong places? Why does it come and go with the blink of an eye? Or does it?

Questions to ponder, yes, but not about love, but about ourselves. It is not love that is hard to understand, it is ourselves. Love doesn’t hurt people, people hurt people. Love is and always will be pure, compassionate and gracious. It belongs to everyone so how do we find love and keep it with us always?

The answers are simple, yet profound.

The first realization you must make is that love is not “out there”, it is “in you”. You were created from love so it already runs through your veins, muscles, hands, feet, heart, brain, soul, and so on. Love is what makes you smile when you’re happy and love is what comforts you when you’re sad. Love is what makes you find your soulmate but it also heals you from heartbreaks.

The second realization is that love cannot be lost, it can only be amplified. Since you are “love”, how much you feel of it is all about what experiences you have as a human being. Get excited and the love meter gets higher. Feel betrayed and the meter gets lower. But remember, it never fades away completely. You can never lose it so hold fast and focus on why it exists within you to begin with.

The third realization about love is that its ultimate goal is to be shared. When passed to others, it can feel larger than life itself. Also, the benefits extend beyond you as the giver and impacts the person receiving it immensely. Love can show up in so many different ways: a smile, a hug, a kiss, a handshake, a look, a gift, a lending hand, a listening ear, a lick on the face (from a dog), a cat rubbing against your leg, a bird eating from your hand, feeding a homeless person, etc. There are no limits on how far its reach goes and there are no limits on how much you can have or experience.

Love lives within you and will always find a way to remind of you this. Remember to nurture your own self-love first because you are a very important person in your life. Once you are filled with love, reach out and share it with those who need it most. Those who have forgotten that they too were created from love. Don’t worry about running out of love either, you can never deplete a heart filled with love. It is self-filling and self-restoring. So go out there and touch someone else’s life with your love…because love is an extension of who you really are. 🙂

Your Truth Will Set You Free

Truth is relative.

To think you know everything, is evidence that you do not. To think you understand everything, is evidence that you do not. We each have been given the same knowledge, emotions, understanding, love, compassion and so forth. Some merely access these sooner than others. The life energy source that is us and the universe and beyond, is infinite in its wisdom and love. And so are we.

We are specks in the vastness of existence who have a consciousness to “believe” and a mind to “choose”. Nothing more. Accept this and realize you have begun the journey of true self-discovery.

The are no absolutes in life. Everything is fluid. Everything exists at the same time. For what was, is now and will forever be. You may not recognize it but you can feel it. Nothing ever truly goes away. It is always here. Connected to you.

Your purpose is to learn, share and guide. Each of us unique. Each of us special. Each of us capable of conquering our fears and doubts in an instant.

The time has come to peel back the mediocrity of your life and step into the greatness like your ancestors and claim your place in the universe.

You were created for a mission so impossible that only you can make it possible. Only you with your innate abilities, hidden talents and insatiable love for mankind.

Find your truth. Live your truth. Love your truth.

For it alone will set you free.

Enlightenment is a journey to Transformation.

According to Buddhism, enlightenment is the cessation of suffering in own’s own life.

It is the awakening to the ultimate truth by which man/woman is freed from the endless cycle of personal desires or vices and spends his/her life searching for a spiritual union by doing good things in the world.

In other words, if human beings can free themselves from the all the desires that ultimately cause them suffering, they are considered to be enlightened.

This by no means is an easy task because part of what makes us human are the desires we crave in life. Therefore, to remove all desires to ease all suffering is not reserved for the weak of heart.

It takes years to become truly enlightened but the journey to get there is what we must endure if this is our true destination.

How do you become enlightened? Here is an excerpt from The Pathway to Happiness: “If it is enlightenment that you seek you will need to engage in experiential practices. These are actions that will quiet your mind so that you can perceive directly. Spiritual traditions around the world each have their own methods. They quiet the internal dialogue by eliminating the false beliefs, dissolving personal importance, and they train you to focus your attention into a silent world. Meditation and prayer are practices that engage you towards direct experience.”

My own personal journey in this lifetime has brought me to various enlightened states but I am far from where I need to be. However, the more I grow into the spiritual being that I am, the better my life becomes.

I encourage you to “practice” the methods you feel will bring you closer to your own enlightenment. It is different for each of you so find what resonates with you and do it.
