This post almost didn’t happened. I almost gave up because I was tired and of course, brain dead. But I decided that I was not going to let myself down by quitting on a commitment I had made and just “get a task done”. So, here I am. 🙂

So how do you keep going when you’re on the verge of giving up? Or your energy is running on empty? Or you can’t remember why  you started in the first place? It’s hard to see the finish line when the excuses sound better than your end goal.  But it’s important to finish what you start so here are some tricks to help you stoke the fire and get a task done so you can keep moving forward.

  1. Tell someone (get help from someone who knows how to motivate you and inspire you to keep going)
  2. Take a quick break and do something else (laundry, play video games, etc)
  3. Wash your face and do some exercises to get the blood moving again
  4. Play your favorite music and dance around the room
  5. Put perfection on the back burner (just finish your task, you can always revise later)
  6. Realize the true importance of your task (the reason you started in the first place)
  7. Remind yourself of the amazing reward you get when you’re done (sleep, ice-cream, a feeling of accomplishment…whatever works)

I would love to hear what you use to stay motivated and on task.

And I’m off to bed. (My reward) 🙂

All the best,

Coach Dina Blas
