Acceptance. Probably my favorite topic, ever! Why? It’s such a simple concept but without acceptance, the world would be in turmoil. People would forever question everything, nobody would ever rest. You would never be able to move on from…anything.
I love this word/topic because it allows me to be “calm”. Because of this word, I am who I am today, cool and collected. Not many things can ruffle my feathers, not many people can get under my skin now. I believe that you must have some level of acceptance in your life in order to be productive. People who accept nothing, have nothing to offer. It’s sort of a give and take in life. Almost like keeping the order of the world.
Acceptance is key in life because it allows you to have a foundation for your mind and heart. We build our foundation based on what we’re taught to believe in whether it be religion, right vs. wrong, the sky is blue, the grass is green, etc. We grow up with certain aspects of our lives that allow us to make decisions about other things that come later in life. Obviously, as adults we question whatever does not make sense to us and we should. However, the problem lays in the questioning of things that shouldn’t be questioned. I talked about change in my last blog. You can’t question change and come out on the winning side of the argument so why question it. Just accept it and move on. One big area people struggle with is, other people. No surprise there. Instead of accepting someone the way they are and leaving them alone, we try to “make” them into someone else or talk badly about them behind their backs because we don’t understand them. No one said you had to be friends with everyone else. Pick and choose your friends and then leave everyone else alone.
We were all put on this Earth to share our gift with the world. In order to do that, we have to accept that others also have a gift to share with us and their gift is just as valid as ours. It may not look the same or sound the same but it’s unique to that individual. Someone you know may be a wonderful writer, a passionate speaker, cares for everyone like a mother, shares knowledge willingly, listens without judgment, volunteers regularly, helps build homes for the poor, mentors children/adults, helps their neighbor with their yard, takes in stray animals, never says no to a good cause, etc. Everyone in this world does at least one thing instinctively and without reward. This is their gift. What is your true gift? How do you make this world a better place for all of us to live in? What is your contribution?
If you haven’t discovered your gift, that’s ok. Open yourself to find it and know that it is waiting for you to find it. All you have to do is accept who you truly are on the inside and your truth will set you free. Remember, your gift can never be taken away from your nor can it be given to you by someone else. Your gift is the “acceptance” in your heart that burns to be let out. Don’t be afraid to show it. Every gift, no matter what it is, is beautiful.
My gift is the ability to help others discover who they truly are on the inside. I accept each and every person for who they are and encourage them to discover more of themselves by being themselves. If we truly accept the wonderful person we are inside and accept what we are destined to do while on this planet, this world would be an amazing place to live. Don’t you agree?
