Well, aren’t you? For someone else to tell you its ok for you to be you, right? For someone else to give you the thumbs up on a decision you made, right? For someone else to approve of your love life, right?

No? Then what are you waiting for? Too many of us leave it to outside influences to tell us how to be us. How to feel, learn, love, think, etc. Why is that? Do we think someone else knows us better than we know ourselves? Do we think someone else has lived our life that they know what our next step should be? Or maybe we’re just too scared to take responsibility for our own lives. Maybe we would rather place the blame on someone else so we don’t have to face the consequences of our own decisions.

Whatever the reason is for our lack of decision making or action taking, it boils down to us not wanting to take a risk.  Period.  We somehow think if we don’t risk anything, we won’t lose anything. WRONG! When we choose not to risk anything, we risk EVERYTHING! Taking a risk means you’re willing to do whatever it takes to live life fully or love completely. Taking a risk means you value your self worth enough to do what feels right to you and no one else. Taking a risk means that you want the best life has to offer and you’re not taking “no” for an answer.  When you take a risk, you are trusting yourself to create a life you’ve always wanted. Granted, it may not always work out every time, but it will most of the time.  Isn’t that worth it?

If you want FULL credit for your own life, you are going to have to step up and do whatever it takes to get it done. Don’t look around and ask for permission. Just do it!

If you want to love, love!
If you want to learn, go learn!
If you want to be creative, find your outlet!

And if you’re still looking for permission, then here it is.  I hereby grant you permission to be the amazing person that you are and to go forth and create all the wonderful things in this world for yourself and others. There! Permission granted! Now, go to it! Be you! The world is waiting. 🙂

Love and Blessings,

Coach Dina Blas

There will come a day in your life when you realize that the way you live will not be enough to create the happiness, love, wealth and peace you so desperately crave.  On this day you will stop your bad habits and realize all they did was cast a shadow on your true magnificence. On this day you will decide that your greatness is worth fighting for. On this day you will believe you were created for a higher purpose.  On this day you will start the search for those who dream the same dream you do. On this day your journey will take you on an uncomfortable and scary road to the unknown but you know that as you travel this road you will become more comfortable and unafraid. On this day the universe hears you completely and will help guide you and show you the amazing future you have ahead.  On this day you take back your power from all those who hurt you and say I am not a victim anymore I have overcome. On this day you will begin to see the beauty the world has to offer in all its living creatures. On this day you will understand that you are one with everything. On this day you promise never to go back to a life of misery, hatred and jealousy. On this day you claim your life of love, compassion, kindness and generosity. On this day you vow to share what you have learned with everyone who comes into your life because the circle of true humanity must go on. On this day you will finally uncover why you are here.

Is today your day? Can it be? Never let excuses stop you from your greatness! Step into your power and become YOU!

Love and Blessings,

Wait. Before you go off on me, let me explain.

Bullies are bullies because they’ve been bullied themselves.  Got it?  It is a learned behavior. No one is born a bully.  People who “hurt” other people do it because they have been badly hurt in the past or are still hurting in some way because of a terrible situation in their own life. They just can’t stop themselves from inflicting it on other people.  It’s no excuse and I would never condone the behavior. But sometimes, people lose their way and we have to be aware of this.  Trust me, 99.9% of people in the world would “choose” NOT to willfully hurt someone. Humans are just not made that way.  Remember, each one of us is a product of our environment and ourselves.  We cannot separate the two. Sometimes, someone may just get too tired or feels too beat up to keep it together and put a smile for the world everyday. That’s ok. There is hope for them.

I know many of you may want to be angry with bullies or cause them pain like they did to you. You may even want to kill them. I understand but this will NOT fix the problem. Without proper counseling and therapy, a bully cannot fully understand the severity of their actions or the hurt they cause. Their misguided thought processes are just part of life for them and they don’t know how to break the cycle or how to make their own pain go away.

If you are the reciever of the abuse from a bully, then you have to know when to say enough is enough for you. As I always state, you should always put your well being first. It is not your job to save them or force them into counseling. You have to merely love them enough to help them make their own decision to heal or even tougher than that, walk away. Remember, you are a human being and you should only subject yourself to so much neglect and abuse.  Loving sometimes translates into leaving. Give yourself permission to love from afar and pray that the person who is hurting you will find their way.

If you are the “bully” or the “one who hurts other people” in whatever method that is for you, stop for a second and ask yourself “Why do I hurt other people?”. The answer(s) you get may not be to your liking or they may be too painful and raw, but acknowledging them is the beginning to a path to your true happiness. Now, try saying these to yourself “I deserve to be happy”…”I really do love myself”…”I don’t want to hurt anyone anymore.” Feel those words and please know this, you ARE a GOOD person. Yes, you are. Don’t let anyone tell you anything different or make you feel anything less.  Now, when you’re ready, please get some help. Find a licsenced professional to talk to. Someone who cares about you. It’s going to be ok. A life without “emotional battles or pain” is right around the corner if you want it. It’s not going to be easy but it will be worth it.  How does that sound? 🙂

Together, all of us can help each other move through the pain and into the healing. Love is an amazing thing. Let’s make sure we tell those we care about often. And for those we cannot love directly, never stopping loving them from afar, for they need it the most.

Love and Blessings,

Coach Dina Blas

As you know, 2012 is right around the corner and you’ll soon be asked, “What’s your New Year’s resolution?” Will you cringe at the thought or jump for joy at the chance to share your life changing decision?

Well, most people who set a new year’s resolution don’t make it past the first few weeks and if they’re lucky the first few months. Why? Because even though they make the resolution with good intentions, it was made on a dare or because they don’t want to be left out, or they really need the new year to be different, etc.  It’s based on an emotional response.  No matter what the reason, one thing that a new year’s resolution lacks is how much thought is put into it.  Example: It’s 11:59 pm 2011 and here it comes, “In 2012, I’m going to……”  Ok, you get the picture.  Not much thought!

Ok, the madness stops TODAY.  Remove all thoughts of setting New Year’s resolutions and in its place, contemplate a few goals you’d like to accomplish in 2012.  Just a few items that would really make your life a little easier if you could get them done.  Nothing too extravagant but definitely note worthy.  Go ahead, take a minute and write them down.

Great.  Now you’ve got a starting point. The best way to set goals that you will actually accomplish is to make sure the goal meets each one of these criteria:  Specific. Measurable. Attainable. Realistic. Timely. These are called SMART goals.  And SMART goals are the best way to get anything worth doing, done!

*SPECIFIC:  A goal that is specific should answer these questions, who, what, where, when, which, and why. Anything less and you don’t have a lot to go on. Example: A general goal is saying, “I want to get in shape”. This leaves a lot to be desired, right?  But a specific goal would sound like, “I will join a gym and exercise 3 days a week.”  Ah, the plan is laid out.  See the difference?

*MEASURABLE:  Here you want to establish concrete criteria to measure your progress.  When you constantly do this, your mind continues to stay focused and seeing the progress you’re making will convince you to keep going.  Answer these questions: How do I know if I’m making progress? How will I know if I accomplish my goal?

*ATTAINABLE:  Can you actually reach this goal? Honestly, this is up to you.  Your mindset is going to determine your effort and determination.  If this goal is important to you, you’re going to find the right motivation to make it happen. Search deep inside you and find the person you’ve always wanted to be. Now, get it done!!!

*REALISTIC:  Is this a reasonable goal? Or did you just set a goal to disappoint yourself down the line? Is it too easy? Is it too hard?  Make sure your goal is just out of reach or makes you stretch to get there. What that means is that you set a goal that is challenging and will get you to work just hard enough to make you sweat but won’t break you.

*TIMELY: The goal must have a deadline. No deadline, no sense of urgency to get it done.   It’s that simple.  Oh and “someday” does not qualify as a deadline.  Your unconscious mind will focus on your date and quietly nudge you in the direction you need to go.  You cannot have a SMART goal without this date.  Pick a date and stick to it.

There you have it, a method for achieving great success in all aspects of your life. The key is to stay focused and find the motivation to accomplish what you’ve been putting off for too long.

Now, I ask you with the utmost confidence, “What are your 2012 goals?” 🙂

Wishing you all the success in the 2012!

Make it a year to remember!

Blessings,

Coach Dina Blas

The most powerful belief system you have is believing in yourself. Period. Whether you believe in a higher power or not, it still comes down to how you feel about yourself that makes the difference in how your life turns out.

As human beings, we have the ability to “choose”. The act of making a choice is what sets us apart from every other living thing.  Having said that, we choose to believe in God, the Buddha, Mohammed, etc. or nothing at all.  Beliefs are passed on through generations, taught in schools, our friends, family or learned through life.  However, they are not “forced” on us. Every person chooses to accept what religion, spirituality, different realms of the universe or realities they put their faith in.  Anyone who says otherwise, is lacking a belief in themselves.  Anything or anyone outside of believing in yourself, consider as a topping on a cake and you are the cake.  If there is no cake, there is no topping.  You must put yourself first otherwise you risk the chance of blaming someone or something else for your life’s circumstances.

Without a solid understanding of what you personally believe about yourself, you tend to allow others to influence your opinions and self-belief systems. Why? Because you don’t trust yourself enough to know that you can make that choice all by yourself. Your self-esteem and confidence are wavering for some reason so you may believe that others know you better than you know yourself. Which of course, is never true.  They are not you.  If you truly listen to your intuition and the voice inside yourself, you’ll be amazed at the beauty, love and intelligence that resides in YOU. Why not give it a chance to shine? Show the world who you really are. I know I’d love to see it.

This is what it comes down to. If you want to be happier, healthier, smarter or want true love, great friendships or to just open your own business, whatever it is, you MUST believe in YOURSELF.

Believe in your ability to take an action that moves you forward.

Believe in your tenacity and perserverance to hold your ground and complete that task in front of you because it’s important.

Believe in your ability to make the choice that is appropriate in that moment.  Remember, there are no wrong decisions, just choices made in a single moment of time.

Believe in the love in your heart and that you will find someone who is looking for someone just like you.

Believe in the caring and giving in your soul that cries out to make a difference in the world and find a way to volunteer your time.

And most of all, Believe in the goodness of who you are. We were all born the same, with a smile on our faces and the purity in our hearts.  Don’t let your childhood and life experiences change you.  Be the best person you can be and life will unfold just as it should.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Remember, Be good to yourself and to each other!

Love and Blessings,

Coach Dina Blas

There are no wrong decisions.  There are only choices made in a single, unique moment of time. There will never be another moment like the one you’re in when you make that decision. So, you make it based on how you are feeling at that exact moment in time, what happened that day, your past experiences, a fight with your spouse, and so on and so on.

A decision/choice is a very powerful event. It can change lives in an instant, start a war, sentence someone to life in prison, help an old lady across the street, bring home a lost puppy, volunteer at a shelter, etc.  A decision has an impact far reaching our own realm of understanding.

However, who’s to say a choice is a good one  or bad one? I believe its neither. A choice is a choice and that’s it. You pick to go left or right and deal with the consequences as they occur. Period.  No drama about how you should have chosen a different path. Why? Because no one knows what would have or could have happened had you gone down the other path. Trust me, you made the choice you made just the way you were supposed to.

If you call a choice a “bad” choice, that leaves room for regret and second guessing. Don’t do it! Accept your decision and move on. Life won’t stop either way. A choice is a decision made in a unique moment in time. Here one moment, gone in another.

However, if you decide that you would have done something differently, then choose to do that next time. Let your original decision stand tall in all its glory and move forward. There is no going back so why try.  Trust yourself and allow the chips to fall where they may.  If anything at all, think twice about the implications of what you’re about to decide and stop for a moment. Does it “feel” right? I didn’t say “is it” right.  Trust your instincts.  Oh, and for the love of everything, please don’t make a decision in the heat of heightened emotions!!!  You’re not thinking clearly.  Take a breath, step away from the situation (a whole day would be ideal) and then revisit with a clear mind.  You’ll be glad you did.

Speaking from experience, all my decisions have always turned out just fine. They may not have started that way, but always ended up just where they needed to be. Have faith in the universe and its ability to take care of you. I do.  Consider this another lesson in personal development on the journey of your life!

I would love to hear about any of your decisions that turned into amazing situations!

Blessings,

Coach Dina Blas

Today is today.  Tomorrow has yet to be.  So, where do we go from here?  What does your tomorrow look like? Bleak? Promising?

My response: tomorrow is what you believe it will be and then make it to be.

Everyone has the “choice” to decide on the outlook they wish to see. Yes, you make the choice.  No, its not up to someone else.  Just you.

There are no wrong choices in life.  Just consequences to your choices. There will come a time in everyone’s life where they must step forward and make a decision that will change their life forever.  I have been fortunate to have many such times in my life.  I believe in 2nd chances and sometimes even 3rd chances until we get it right.  Don’t be afraid of what “might” happen if you just sit there.  Be afraid of what happens if you “choose” to do nothing.  Yes, doing nothing is a choice.

The future is what we make it to be.  Good, bad or indifferent…it is our future.  Be a participant and make it a bright, joyous and productive future.  Even the smallest gestures go a long way.  Be a by stander and deal with what comes.  I believe you have the power to look beyond yourself and see an amazing person living fully, giving unconditionally and loving abundantly.  That is a future worth fighting for.  Is it not?

What will you do TODAY to make your future worth living for?

Suggestions:  1) Be positive 2) Smile 3) Help someone 4) Do the right thing 5) Say Thank you and Please 6) Give without expecting in return 7) Call someone you haven’t spoken to in a while 8 ) Write a hand written letter to someone you care about 9) Give a hug 10) Put someone else first

Blessings,

Ah, the infamous and sometimes elusive question that many people ask themselves on a daily basis.  I was posed this question on one of my polls so l thought I would break it down a little further.  Ponder these questions as you continue reading:

1)    What do you consider “me time”?

2)    How often do you take your “me time” and is it reasonable?

3)    Do you feel guilty when taking your “me time”? Why?

4)    Do you feel resentful if you can’t get enough “me time”? Why?

5)    At what point do you think your “me time” might turn into being selfish?

I believe everyone needs “me time” or “alone time”.  Yes, everyone!  To know and love others, you must first know and love yourself.  In order to know and love yourself, you must learn how to hear your own inner voice.  Consider it a “recharge my battery session”.  How do you do it?  It’s different for everyone but here is my suggestion.  Stop everything, sit quietly, close your eyes and listen to the silence. Let the world fade away and listen to what your mind, heart and soul tell you.

Once you’ve heard what you needed to hear, your “me time” will turn into activities that foster and feed your inner peace.  Some people take up a class they’ve always wanted, learn a new hobby, drop the kids off with the grandparents and go shopping for 2 hours or golfing for 2 hours, take a long bubble bath, have their husband take the kids out of the house while they take a long deserved afternoon nap, get a professional massage or a day at the spa, etc.  You get the idea.  Nothing is off limits if it’s fueling the passion in your soul.

Having said all that, you may be asking when are you supposed to do all this when you don’t have enough time on your hands or no one can take your kids for a few hours.  Well, it’s about finding the time or making friends and believing in other people enough to watch your kids for you.  Maybe it’s even stealing a few minutes before everyone wakes up in the morning or after everyone’s gone to sleep.  If we really believe in the goodness of ourselves and others, God will give us what we need.  If you truly don’t have the time, then look for the reason it has not been given.  Is there a lesson you haven’t learned yet?

Balance is also one of the keys to having a happy life.  No matter what your situation, without balance, your life will continue to be a struggle.  Ever hear of work/life balance?  Employers are stressing this concept because they know that an overworked employee will not be as productive as they could be.  It’s true.  Everyone needs to be able to enjoy life on every level and at every stage of their life.  When you’re at work, be committed to producing excellence.  When you leave work and come home, be committed to your loving your family and yourself.  It’s really that simple.

“Me time” should never be a topic of conflict in your life.  Talk it over with your family, partner and friends.  Ask them for their understanding and patience.  Tell them why it’s important to you and how it makes you feel.  Anyone who truly cares about you, will gladly understand and give you the space you require.  That’s what we do for the people we love, right?  If you don’t get the appropriate response, what does that say about them?  Who’s being selfish now?

Remember, having “me time” is a great and wonderful experience but you too have a responsibility in order to get it.  Don’t take advantage of others in order to get more of your “me time”.  If your mother in law loves taking the kids every Wednesday for the afternoon, don’t impose and ask her to take them Thursday and Friday if she hasn’t offered.  Cherish the time you get and make the most of it.  Also, remember to thank everyone who helps you along the way, even if it was just once.  Karma has a funny way of coming back around.

Life provides us with many opportunities.  We just have to be able to recognize them and take advantage of them.  Like writing this blog for instance, it’s 10:00pm on a Saturday evening.  Everyone is asleep at my house including the pets.  So, I grabbed my laptop and starting typing.  Nighttime is the best time for me to write with only the ticking of the clock and a passing car from time to time to remind me that I’m not alone.  This was the perfect “me time” so I took it.

What do you do during your “me time” and how have you learned to balance it in your busy life?  What suggestions do you have for others who have not yet conquered this concept?

Blessings,

Acceptance.  Probably my favorite topic, ever!  Why?  It’s such a simple concept but without acceptance, the world would be in turmoil.  People would forever question everything, nobody would ever rest.  You would never be able to move on from…anything.

I love this word/topic because it allows me to be “calm”.  Because of this word, I am who I am today, cool and collected.  Not many things can ruffle my feathers, not many people can get under my skin now.  I believe that you must have some level of acceptance in your life in order to be productive.  People who accept nothing, have nothing to offer.  It’s sort of a give and take in life.  Almost like keeping the order of the world.

Acceptance is key in life because it allows you to have a foundation for your mind and heart.  We build our foundation based on what we’re taught to believe in whether it be religion, right vs. wrong, the sky is blue, the grass is green, etc.  We grow up with certain aspects of our lives that allow us to make decisions about other things that come later in life.  Obviously, as adults we question whatever does not make sense to us and we should.  However, the problem lays in the questioning of things that shouldn’t be questioned.  I talked about change in my last blog.  You can’t question change and come out on the winning side of the argument so why question it.  Just accept it and move on.  One big area people struggle with is, other people.  No surprise there.  Instead of accepting someone the way they are and leaving them alone, we try to “make” them into someone else or talk badly about them behind their backs because we don’t understand them.  No one said you had to be friends with everyone else.  Pick and choose your friends and then leave everyone else alone.

We were all put on this Earth to share our gift with the world.  In order to do that, we have to accept that others also have a gift to share with us and their gift is just as valid as ours.  It may not look the same or sound the same but it’s unique to that individual.  Someone you know may be a wonderful writer, a passionate speaker, cares for everyone like a mother, shares knowledge willingly, listens without judgment, volunteers regularly, helps build homes for the poor, mentors children/adults, helps their neighbor with their yard, takes in stray animals, never says no to a good cause, etc.  Everyone in this world does at least one thing instinctively and without reward.  This is their gift.  What is your true gift?  How do you make this world a better place for all of us to live in?  What is your contribution?

If you haven’t discovered your gift, that’s ok.  Open yourself to find it and know that it is waiting for you to find it.  All you have to do is accept who you truly are on the inside and your truth will set you free.  Remember, your gift can never be taken away from your nor can it be given to you by someone else.  Your gift is the “acceptance” in your heart that burns to be let out.  Don’t be afraid to show it.  Every gift, no matter what it is, is beautiful.

My gift is the ability to help others discover who they truly are on the inside.  I accept each and every person for who they are and encourage them to discover more of themselves by being themselves.  If we truly accept the wonderful person we are inside and accept what we are destined to do while on this planet, this world would be an amazing place to live.  Don’t you agree?
